Supermarket Shelf Poisons



Anybody that takes Vitamin C should avoid the following Soft drinks:
Sunkist, Fanta, Diet Coke, Sprite & Pepsi Max.

These drinks contain Sodium Benzoate 211 on the label. A chemical reaction between Vitamin C and Sodium Benzoate creates Benzine a highly Carcinogenic chemical (story by Channel 9). 

Benzine has the ability to severely damage the DNA in the Mitochondria to the point that it totally inactivates it, knocks it out altogether. The Mitochondria consumes oxygen to give you energy and if you damage it, then the cell starts to malfunction very seriously, often fatally, a whole array of diseases has been tied to the damage to the DNA, including Parkinson's Disease and quite a lot of Neuro-Degenerative Diseases....

Don't mix these two either, they cause a chemical reaction (explosion) in the stomach, it's not only Mentos but also any Mint products. Most European countries have forbidden the Importing and use in their country of Aspartame including all makes of Saccharin, example Equal, Nutra-Sweet, Spoonful & Diet Drinks, including 6,000 consumer good's and beverages, sold on the supermarket shelves. This ban affect's all use of this product in any type of consumable infringement and will carry penalties that go from 9.000 euros to 90,000 Euros. 

Mexico is also considering banning all 6,000 products of Aspartame on its supermarket shelves. In Mexico, Aspartame is known as Rumsfeld's Disease, after George Bush's mate Donald Rumsfeld. The Nutra-Sweet company and Searle are owned by Monsanto who appointed Rumsfeld as their General Manager, so they could use his clout with Parliament to get this Deadly Poison passed by the FDA and boost their sales of Aspartame.

Avoid all toothpastes made in China, especially Colgate's, they contain Ethylene Glycol. This is an Anti-Freezing agent, Highly toxic and even fatal - it destroys the liver, kidney, lung, blood cells, heart and the nervous system. It is also in some mouth washes, make-up, aftershave, baby powder and wipes, shampoo and deodorants.

Avoid Smarties; they contain almost every toxic artificial colour on the market.

To top it off Smarties are not even made of Chocolate (neither are Tim Tam's).

RICE IS TASTELESS SUGAR.  
Hence, we can eat a lot of it.  
IN FACT, WAY TOO MUCH FOR OUR HEALTH.
 
I'm a big rice eater, but this is making me think 
twice about my rice-eating habit. 
 
Veggies are easier to plant than rice and they need less 
water, among other things...

 
 
Eat Less Rice! 

The human body was never meant to consume rice ! 
You see, our genes have hardly changed in more than 
30,000 years. 
However, our food choices and lifestyle have changed dramatically. 
The caveman would hardly recognize our food or way of life. 

Caveman food was never cooked as fire was not yet tamed. Thus, he ate only those foods that you can eat without treatment with or by fire. 
He ate fruits, vegetables, fish (sushi anyone?), eggs, nuts 
and meat. Yes, even meat ! 
You can even eat meat raw if you were starving in the forest. You have the necessary enzymes to digest meat. 

However, rice, like wheat and corn, cannot be eaten raw. 
It must be cooked. Even if you were starving in the desert, you cannot eat rice in the raw form.. 
This is because we do not have the system of enzymes to break rice down. You were never meant to eat rice. 
To make matters worse, you not only eat rice, but also make 
it the bulk of your food. 

In some parts of Asia, rice forms up to 85% of the plate. 
Even if you take rice, keep it to a minimum. 
Remember, it is only for your tongue - not your body. 
Actually, rice and other grains like wheat and corn are 
actually worse than sugar. 
 
There are many reasons: 

Rice becomes sugar - lots of it! 
This is a fact that no nutritionist can deny: 
rice is chemically no different from sugar. 
One bowl of cooked rice is the caloric equal of 10 teaspoons 
of sugar. 
 
This does not matter whether it is white, brown or herbal 
rice. 
Brown rice is richer in fiber, some B vitamins and minerals 
but it is still the caloric equal of 10 teaspoons of sugar. 
To get the same 10 teaspoons of sugar, you need to consume lots of kangkong - 10 bowls of it. 

Rice is digested to become sugar. 
Rice cannot be digested before it is thoroughly cooked. However, when thoroughly cooked, it becomes sugar and spikes circulating blood sugar within half an hour - 
almost as quickly as it would if you took a sugar candy. 
Rice is very low in the 'rainbow of anti-oxidants.'  

This complete anti-oxidant rainbow is necessary for the effective and safe utilization of sugar. Fruits come with a sugar called fructose. 
However, they are not empty calories as the fruit is packed with a whole host of othernutrients that help its proper assimilation and digestion. 

Rice has no fiber. 
The fiber of the kangkong fills you up long before your blood sugar spikes. 
This is because the fiber bulks and fills up your stomach. 
Since white rice has no fiber, you end up eating lots of 
'calorie dense' food before you get filled up. 
Brown rice has more fiber but still the same amount of sugar. 

Rice is tasteless-sugar is sweet. 
There is only so much that you can eat at one sitting. 
How many teaspoons of sugar can you eat before you feel 
like throwing up? 
Could you imagine eating 10 teaspoons of sugar in one seating? 

Rice is always the main part of the meal.  
 
 
Eating Sugar Unknowingly 
While sugar may fill your dessert or sweeten your coffee, it will never be the main part of any meal. 
You could eat maybe two to three teaspoons of sugar at one meal. 
However, you could easily eat the equal value of two to three bowls (20-30 teaspoons) of sugar in one meal. 
I am always amused when I see someone eat sometimes five bowls of rice (equals 50 teaspoons of sugar) and then asks for tea tarik kurang manis! 

There is no real 'built in' mechanism for us to prevent overeating of rice: 
How much kangkong can you eat? 
How much fried chicken can you eat? 
How much steamed fish can you eat?

Think about these! 

In one seating, you cannot take lots of chicken, fish or cucumber, but you can take lots of rice. 
Eating rice causes you to eat more salt. 
As rice is tasteless, you tend to consume more salt - 
another villain when it comes to high blood pressure. 
You tend to take more curry that has salt to help flavor rice. We also tend to consume more ketchup and soy sauce which are also rich in salt. 

Eating rice causes you to drink less water. 
The more rice you eat, the less water you will drink as there 
is no mechanism to prevent the overeating of rice. 
Rice, wheat and corn come hidden in our daily food. 
As rice is tasteless, it tends to end up in other foods that substitute rice like rice flour, noodles and bread. 
We tend to eat the hidden forms which still get digested into sugar. 

Rice, even when cooked, is difficult to digest. 
Can't eat raw rice ? 
Try eating rice half cooked. 
Contrary to popular belief, rice is very difficult to digest. 
It is 'heavy stuff'.
 
If you have problems with digestion, try skipping rice for 
a few days. 
You will be amazed at how the problem will just go away.


Rice prevents the absorption of several vitamins and minerals.

Rice when taken in bulk will reduce the absorption of vital nutrients like zinc, iron and the B vitamins. 

Are you a rice addict?
 
Going rice-less may not be easy but you can go rice-less. Eating less rice could be lot easier than you think. Here are some strategies that you can pursue in your quest to eat less rice:
Eat less rice  -  cut your rice by half.
 
Barry Sears, author of the Zone Diet 
advises 'eating rice like spice'.
 
Instead, increase your fruits and vegetables.
Take more lean meats and fish. 
You can even take more eggs and nuts.  

Have 'riceless' meals. 
Take no rice or wheat at say, breakfast. 
Go for eggs instead. 

Go on 'riceless' days. 
Go 'western' once a week.  

Take no rice and breads for one day every week. 
That can't be too difficult. 
Appreciate the richness of your food. 
Go for taste, colours and smells. 
Make eating a culinary delight. 
Enjoy your food in the original flavors. 

Avoid the salt shaker or ketchup. 
You will automatically eat less rice. 

Eat your fruit dessert before (Yes ! no printing error ) your meals. 
The fiber rich fruits will ''bulk up' in your stomach. 
Thus, you will eat less rice and more fruits, get sick less  
and even lose weight by eating less rice !  

It's your life. 
Decide what you want to eat ! 
But eat less rice !

Sea cucumber has been used in traditional Chinese medicine for hundreds of years, but they are relatively obscure in the U.S. This may be soon changing, however, as evidence mounts that sea cucumber extracts can kill cancer cells while stimulating the immune system.

As reported by Ethan Evers, author of "The Eden Prescription, previous research on sea cucumber has demonstrated its ability to kill lung, breast, prostate, skin, colon, pancreatic, and liver cancer cells. These extracts have also proven effective in killing leukemia and gioblastoma cells. Looks like we can add yet another food to the list of anti-cancer foods.
Scientists believe a key compound known as frondoside A to be responsible. Frondoside A is a triterpenoid, diverse organic compounds found in the essential oils and oleoresins of plants.
This latest study, published in PLoS One, has confirmed just how powerful frondoside A truly is. Researchers found it to kill 95% of ER+ breast cancer cells, 95% of liver cancer cells, 90% of melanoma cells, and 85-88% of three different types of lung cancer.
As Evers reports:
"But the benefits of this compound don't just stop at directly inducing programmed cell death (apoptosis). It also inhibits angiogenesis (the ability of tumors to grow new blood vessels to get their food) and stops cancer metastasizing by impeding cell migration and invasion. Even more intriguing is the ability of frondoside A to activate our immune system's natural killer cells to attack cancer cells. This has been shown for breast cancer in particular but may also apply to all cancers, because it involves the immune system and not cancer cells directly. This may partially explain why frondoside A was so effective at shrinking lung tumors in mice that it rivaled chemo drugs in performance."

When given to mice with non-small cell lung cancer, frondoside A was found to shrink tumors by 40% in only 10 days. Traditional chemo drugs shrunk the tumors by 47 percent, but the risks of chemo treatment are far greater than any side-effects or risks of sea cucumber. (Namely because there are no known risks associated with sea cucumbers). In addition, the amount of frondoside A needed to achieve such results was miniscule—less than a single milligram for an adult weighing 165 pounds.

A local journalist called and asked me " What would you do, Ajahn Brahm, if someone took a Buddhist Holy Book and flushed it down the toilet?" 

Without hesitation I answered "Sir, if someone took a Buddhist Holy Book and flushed it down the toilet, the first thing I would do is call a plumber!" 

When the journalist finished laughing, he confided in me that that was the most sensible answer he had heard. 

Then I went further. I explained that someone may blow up many statues of the Buddha, burn down Buddhist temples or kill Buddhist monks and nuns; they may destroy all of this but I will never allow them to destroy Buddhism. 

You may flush a Holy Book down a toilet, but you will never flush forgiveness, peace and compassion down a toilet. 

The book is not the religion, nor the statue, the building or the priest. These are only "containers." 

What does the book teach us? What does the statue represent? What qualities are the priests supposed to embody? This is the "content".

 When we recognize the difference between the container and the contents, then we will preserve the contents even when the container is being destroyed. 

We can print more books, build more temples and statues and even train more monks and nuns, but when we lose our love and respect for others and ourselves and replace it with violence, then the whole religion has gone down the toilet.

  What to do when you are trapped in a lift ???  

We never know when and where accidents will happen to us or to people around us. Read on and I hope this piece of information may help many of us when things do happen to you, your friends and your loved ones. This happened to a friend.
"One day, while in a lift, it suddenly broke down and it began falling from level 13 at a fast speed. Fortunately, I remembered having watched a TV program that taught that you must quickly press all the buttons for all the levels.
Finally, the lift stopped at the 5th level."
Important things to remember. 
When you are facing life and death situations, whatever decisions or actions you make decides on your survival.
If you are caught in a lift breakdown, first thought that comes to mind may be 'just wait to die'...
But after reading below, things will definitely be different the next time – should you get caught in a lift.

First - Quickly press all the buttons for all the different levels of the lift.
When the emergency electricity supply is activated, it will stop the lift from falling further.

Second - Hold on tight to the handle (if there is any).... It is to support your position and prevent you from falling or getting hurt should you lose your balance.

Third - Lean your back and head against the lift wall keeping your back in a straight line.
Leaning against the wall is to use it as a support for your back/spine as protection.

Fourth - Bend your knees
Your ligament is a flexible, connective tissue. Thus, the impact of fractured bones (should it result) will be minimised during fall.

Some will say there is no supreme spirit; try and tell that to the elephants.
 
THE ELEPHANTS JOURNEY TO PAY RESPECT, BUT HOW DID THEY KNOW?
 
Lawrence Anthony was a legend in South Africa and author of three books, including the bestseller, The Elephant Whisperer.
 
 
He bravely rescued wildlife and rehabilitated elephants all over the globe from human atrocities, including the courageous rescue of Baghdad Zoo animals during US invasion in 2003.
 
On March 7, 2012 Lawrence Anthony died.  He is remembered and missed by his wife, 2 sons, 2 grandsons, and numerous elephants.
 
Two days after his passing, the wild elephants showed up at his home led by two large matriarchs. Separate wild herds arrived in droves to say goodbye to their beloved 'man-friend'.
 
 
A total of 31 elephants patiently walked over 12 miles to get to his South African house.
 
Witnessing this spectacle, humans were obviously in awe not only because of the supreme intelligence and precise timing that these elephants sensed about Lawrence's passing, but also because of the profound memory and emotion the beloved animals evoked in such an organized way:  Walking slowly, for days, making their way in a solemn one-by-one queue from their habitat to his house.
 
Lawrence's wife, Francoise, was especially touched, knowing that the elephants had not been to his house prior to that day for well over 3 years!
But yet they knew where they were going.
 
Mabula and the elephant herd were near Lawrence's house all day, standing vigil in the rain...The elephants obviously wanted to pay their deep respects, honoring their friend who'd saved their lives--so much respect that they stayed for 2 days and 2 nights without eating anything.
 
Then one morning, they left, making their long journey back home.
 
SOMETHING IN THE UNIVERSE IS GREATER AND DEEPER THAN HUMAN INTELLIGENCE.

Does olive oil prevent heart disease


Short answer: Yes 
The health benefits of olive oil come from the presence of polyphenols, antioxidants that reduce the risk of heart diseases and cancers. 
But to get these healthy compounds, consumers should buy good-quality, fresh "extra-virgin" olive oil, which has the highest polyphenol content. Most commercially available olive oils have low levels of polyphenols associated with poor harvesting methods, improper storage, and heavy processing. 

Do cough syrups work? 


Short answer: No 
In 2006, the nation's chest physicians agreed that the majority of over-the-counter cough medicines don't actually work. These colorful syrups typically contain doses of codeine and dextromethorphan that are too small to be effective. 
Only cough suppressants that contain older antihistamines seem to relieve coughs. That includes brompheniramine, an active ingredient in Dimetapp. 

Does sugar cause hyperactivity? 


Short answer: No 
Following a review of 23 studies, a 1996 report published in the Journal of the American Medical Association concluded that sugar "does not affect the behavior or cognitive performance of children." 
The age-old myth that kids misbehave when they eat large amounts of candy, cookies, and other junk food, could be related to the type of events where these foods are typically served. For example, kids are more wound-up at birthday parties and during Halloween when sweet treats tend to flow freely. 

Do sugary soft drinks lead to diabetes? 


Short answer: Yes 
The majority of health research is stacked against sugar-sweetened soda. A large 2004 study in the Journal of the American Medical Association found that women who drank one or more sugary drinks per day increased their risk of developing type 2 diabetes by 83% compared to those who consumed less than one of these beverages per month. 

Do I need sunscreen with more than 30 SPF? 


Short answer: No 
Sunscreens with an SPF (sun protection factor) of 30 block about 97% of ultraviolet rays, while sunscreens with an SPF of higher than 30 block 97%-98%. 
It's more important that you choose "broad-spectrum" sunscreen, meaning it protects against both UVB and UVA rays. Sunbathers also need to apply a generous amount of sunscreen in order to get the full benefit of the SPF. 

Is the MSG in Chinese likely to give you a headache? 


Short answer: No 
A review of 40 years of clinical trials, published in the journal of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners in 2006, found that all previous research "failed to identify a consistent relationship between the consumption of MSG and the constellation of symptoms that comprise the syndrome," including headaches and asthma attacks. 
The misconception spawned from several poorly-done small studies in the 1960s that seemed to connect MSG with a variety of maladies that people experienced after eating at Chinese restaurants.

Do nuts make you fat? 


Short answer: No 
As much as 75% of a nut is fat. But eating fat doesn't necessarily make you fat. The bigger factor leading to weight gain is portion-size. Luckily, nuts are loaded with healthy fats that keep you full. They're also a good source of protein and fiber. 
One study even found that whole almonds have 20% less calories than previously thought because a lot of the fat is excreted from the body. 

Is walking as effective as running? 


Short answer: Yes 
Studies have shown that how long you exercise — and thus how many calories you burn — is more important than how hard you exercise. Running is a more efficient form of exercise, but not necessarily better for you. 
A six-year study published in the journal Arteriosclerosis, Thrombosis, and Vascular Biology in April found that walking at a moderate pace and running produced similar health benefits, so long as the same amount of energy was expended. 

Is drinking fruit juice as good for you as eating fruit? 


Short answer: No 
Calorie for calorie, whole fruit provides more nutritional benefits than drinking the pure juice of that fruit. That's because when you liquefy fruit, stripping away the peel and dumping the pulp, many ingredients like fiber, calcium, vitamin C, and other antioxidants are lost. 
For comparison, a five-ounce glass of orange juice that contains 69 calories has .3 grams of dietary fiber and 16 milligrams of calcium, whereas an orange with the same number of calories packs 3.1 grams of fiber and 60 milligrams of calcium. 

Are all wheat breads better for you than white bread? 


Short answer: No 
Not all wheat breads are created equal. Wheat breads that contain all parts of the grain kernel, including the nutrient-rich germ and fiber-dense bran, must be labeled "whole grain" or "whole wheat."

Can a hot tub make me sick? 


Short answer: Yes 
Hot tubs — especially ones in spas, hotels, and gyms — are perfect breeding grounds for germs. 
The water is not hot enough to kill bacteria, but is just the right temperature to make microbes grow even faster. Even though hot tubs are treated with chlorine, the heat causes the disinfectant to break down faster than it would in regular pools. 
The most common hot tub infection is pseudomonas folliculitis, which causes red, itchy bumps. A more dangerous side-effect of soaking in a dirty Jacuzzi is a form of pneumonia known as Legionnaire's disease. This is what reportedly sickened more than 100 people at the Playboy Mansion back in 2011. 

Does coffee cause cancer?

Do eggs raise cholesterol levels? 


Short answer: No 
Although egg yolks are a major source of cholesterol — a waxy substance that resembles fat — researchers have learned that saturated fat has more of an impact on cholesterol in your blood than eating foods that contain cholesterol. 
"Healthy individuals with normal blood cholesterol levels should now feel free to enjoy foods like eggs in their diet every day," the lead researcher from a 25-year University of Arizona study on cholesterol concluded. 

Can you drink too much water? 


Short answer: Yes 
It is very rare for someone to die from drinking too much water, but it can happen. 
Overhydrating is most common among elite athletes. Drinking an excess of water, called water intoxication, dilutes the concentration of sodium in the blood leading to a condition known as hyponatremia. The symptoms of hyponatremia can range from nausea and confusion to seizures and even death in severe cases. 
To avoid this, drink fluids with electrolytes during extreme exercise events. 

Can yogurt ease digestive problems? 


Short answer: Yes 
Our digestive tract is filled with microorganisms — some good and some bad. Yogurt contains beneficial bacteria, generically called probiotics, that helps maintain a healthy balance. Probiotics can relieve several gastrointestinal problems, including constipation and diarrhea.

Do whitening toothpastes whiten teeth more than regular toothpastes?

Whitening toothpastes usually contain peroxides and other strong abrasives that might make your teeth appear whiter by removing stains. Unlike at-home whitening strips and gels that contain bleach, these toothpastes do not actually change the color of your teeth. 

Is it safe to microwave food in plastic containers?

But the plastic container should display the words "microwave safe." This means that the Food and Drug Administration has tested the container to make sure no chemicals used to make the plastic leech into foods during microwaving. If chemicals do seep out into food, the amounts are tiny and not dangerous to our health. 
As a general guideline, plastic grocery bags as well as most plastic tubs that hold margarine, yogurt, cream cheese, and condiments are not microwave safe.

Watching TV will not destroy your rods and cones as the outdated myth suggests. Before the 1950s, TVs emitted radiation that could increase an individual's risk of eye problems after excessive TV viewing. Modern TVs have special shielding that blocks these harmful emissions.

Bottled water is no safer or purer than tap water, although it is substantially more expensive. 
A recent study by Glasgow University in the U.K. found that bottled water is actually more likely to be contaminated than water from your faucet because it is less well-regulated. 
Bottled water and tap water typically come from the same sources — natural springs, lakes, and aquifers. While public water supplies are tested for contaminants every day, makers of bottled water are only required to test for specific contaminants every week, month, or year.
