 Suggested Hints When Conducting PAL (OE)


Save the moment of discovery for the pupils.

Try not to point out interesting things. Give hints and let them spot it for themselves!
 

Reinforcing the positive is more powerful than punishing for the negative! Praise them when they do the right things: build their confidence!
 

Saying “wow”, rather than “eeee” changes the mindset
powerfully!
Make it fun, not a rule

 

     BE               ALERT!
Weather changes, safety issues; potentially dangerous animals; and where the pupils are
 

SEL!
Self management, sharing and teamwork
are so important!
 

Recap and build on previous lessons: SIO & discipline
 

Intros are short & sweet, debriefs longer: draw out the learning
 

Highest order of experience: discovery, observation of phenomenon;
 not worksheets or drill
 

Manage DISCIPLINE & SAFETY, otherwise there is no learning
 
Puzzle pattern with 9 pieces (put each piece in glow egg - kids put together to find clue. . .):
