The World’s Poorest President

Here's a guy who believes that money does not buy happiness.

How's this as a man of the people: The president of Uruguay, José Mujica, has earned a nickname, "el presidente mas pobre" (translation: "poorest president").
The 77-year-old recently admitted to the Spanish newspaper
El Mundo that he donates almost all of his presidential salary, making him the poorest, or, as Univision pointed out, most generous president, in the world.
El presidente explained he receives $12,500 a month but keeps only $1,250. The public servant told the newspaper, "I do fine with that amount; I have to do fine because there are many Uruguayans who live with much less."
He and his wife—a senator who also donates part of her salary—live in a farmhouse in Montevideo. His biggest expense is his Volkswagen Beetle, valued at $1,945.
Perhaps not surprisingly, under the former guerrilla fighter, who was elected in 2010 as a member of the left-wing coalition, the Broad Front, the country has become known for being one of the least corrupt on the continent.
Mujica has no bank accounts and no debt, and he enjoys one thing money can't buy: the companionship of his dog, Manuela.
The Uruguayan is not the first president to
donate his salary. U.S. President John F. Kennedy, who came from wealth, donated his salary when in office, as did President Herbert Hoover. Hoover, who grew up poor, decided to never accept money for public service, so he could not be accused of corruption.
The World's Poorest President

The president of Uruguay
,José Mujica, donates most of his $12,500 salary to charity and keeps only $1,250 for himself each month.

How to raise a child who loves music

Want to raise a child who loves and appreciates music? It's easier than learning to play "Chopsticks." You don't have to be a virtuoso. All you need to do is create a music-rich environment. Here are some tips on orchestrating the beginnings of a lifelong love of music:

  • Sing songs both to and with your child. Whether you're doing a solo or chiming in with the radio or CD player, you're setting the stage. And don't worry about performing an aria or the full score from the Lion King — just one song, like "Hakuna Matata" (making up lyrics as you go along, if need be), is music to your child's ears. Don't worry if you're a tad off key. "Singing in tune is not a requirement," says Wendy Sims, professor and director of music education at the University of Missouri-Columbia. "What's important is that you interact with your child musically, which shows your youngster that you value music." Also, if you feel insecure about your voice, it's best to avoid negative statements such as "I can't carry a tune." You're trying to develop a positive attitude toward music, and children aren't the harsh music critics that many adults are. They'll love singing with you no matter how you sound.
  • Strike up the band. Click on the radio, pop in a tape, insert a CD. With a flip of a switch or the push of button, you can make music an integral part of your child's everyday life, and thus help him develop an interest in music. "Just as you'd get a child excited about reading by reading to him, you get a child excited about music by listening to music, dancing to music, doing just about anything musical," says Pamela Shaw, director of the Oklahoma City University Performing Arts Academy.
  • Play an assortment of music. Young children are receptive to all kinds of music: jazz, classical, pop, African, Latin, and so on. By playing a variety of artists, composers, and styles, you create a stimulating musical environment — a home filled with the sounds of different instruments, languages, and rhythms. Also, the sooner you introduce a child to the different styles of music, the better. "As children get older, sometime around 8 or 9, they're likely to pick a favorite type of music and only want to listen to that particular style for quite some time," says Patricia Shehan Campbell, author ofSongs in Their Heads: Music and Its Meaning in Children's Lives and professor of music at the University of Washington in Seattle. "So before children decide on their favorite style, you want them to be aware of the incredible array available." Keep in mind that although all different kinds of children's music are available — everything from the classical CD Beethoven Lives Upstairs to African, Caribbean, and Zydeco — it doesn't have to be music specifically for kids.
  • Play "Finish That Tune." Sing, hum, or whistle the first few notes of a song that your child knows — for example, "This land is my land..." — and then stop. Chances are that your child (or anyone else in the room) will finish the line. It's also a fun and effective way to wake up a child in the morning. Poke your head into your child's bedroom, and sing a few notes of a song — for example, "Tomorrow" from the musical Annie: "The sun'll come out..." and stop. After a few tries, you might hear your increasingly alert child sing out "tomorrow."
  • Attend concerts. Many symphonies perform children's concerts, like Peter and the Wolf, at which the different instruments are highlighted. And communities often present concerts in the park — a wonderful setting for children because they can listen and move to music in a setting they already associate with having fun.
  • Check out musically minded books. Reading stories like Mozart Tonight by Julie Downing or Gabriella's Song by Candance Fleming is another easy way to introduce your child to music.
  • Enroll in children's music programs. Kindermusik, a popular, national music program, is geared for children up to age 7. The classes are designed around developmental stages, and the children learn about music through activities such as singing, moving to music, and playing games and simple instruments. The program also offers parents an opportunity to participate with their child.
  • Dance to the music. Kids love to dance, so crank up the tunes and twist and shout.
  • Perform. If your child is learning to play the piano or another instrument — even the pots and pans — why not put on a show? See our articles on playing musical instruments. Make it casual, but special. For your budding Liberace, you might place a candelabra on the piano, or maybe you'd like to jam along with your little drummer boy. You could even videotape the show as a gift for Grandma and Grandpa.

Good Simple exercise

No Need Jogging, No Need Arobics, No Need Bicycle, No Need Taichi, No Need Karate,.& etc…….etc……etc( read below )

A must read and try exercise for those who are too busy to go to the gym or morning walk.  Wish you all good health:-
Dear Friends: The Qigong Walking Exercise that I am teaching at different venues is good but needs at least 1 hour a day to practice for good results.  Since many of you are still working, here is one exercise I believe that could help you solve the time problem.   Just 15 minutes a day and good results can be expected if you do it diligently everyday for a period of 2-3 months (depending on individuals health conditions and ones duration of holding up the legs.) A real simple exercise to help you increase your energy   The English text is my translation from the Chinese text that I received from Sonata. Lie down on your back, raise your legs as show in the photo 90 degree at thighs with body, 90 degree at knee joints, 90 degree at ankles and keep this posture for 15 minutes or longer.   Start with as long as you can manage and add on the minutes.  Thats it.

Notes:
1)    Drink before and after the exercise 300cc of warm water.   Breathing normally.   Dont hold back your breath.  Using the energy from your waist and Dan tian to hold your legs in that posture as long as you can manage.

2)    When you are lying down in this posture, blood will flow back to your liver and kidneys ensuring fast detoxing  and increasing your metabolism.   You will feel very soared with your legs and your pituitary gland will be activated to hasten the detox process and the toxins in your body will be excreted via sweating.

3)    When you are lying in this posture, your body is getting rid of the toxin in your body.   They your good body cells will be stronger and has definitely a good control of any bad cells (including cancer cells) inside your body.

4)    Since you are using your waists energy to support the legs, your Shenqu (CV 8)and Ming Men (GV4) of the main acupressure points) were used to do the breathing, your Front and Back main Meridians will be cleared and connected.   Thus your minute skin pores will be opened to help with the detox process.   With breathing through the Dan Tian, it helps to lessen the burden of breath on your lungs.   Therefore, you heart functions will be stronger with the result that your blood pr! essure will also be lower.

5)    When you sweat, the acidic  toxins will be excreted, your blood lipid (fatty deposits) will be burnt.   Spleen is in charge of our 4 limbs.   Therefore, your blood sugar level will also be stabilized with the result your spleen function is being improved.   End result is that you will feel more calm and gentle.

6)    When your legs are up, your small intestines movement will be activated and your bladders muscles will be stronger.  Therefore, constipation, abnormal menstruation, prostate problems can all be avoided.   Also, once your digestion and excretion systems are in order, you will have good appetite and can maintain your normal body weight.

7)    When your legs are up, your spine is straight.  That means your whole bodys muscles will be strengthened.  Qi and blood will flow smoothly throughout your body.   Your joints can easiy have more bone marrows and the nerves alongside your spine are well connected with all parts of the body.   Thus degeneration of joints and growth of bone spurs can be avoided.

8)    When your legs are up, all your inner organs are working in  harmony. Your brain burden will be less and thus can function better, resulting in clear heads, better memory and no more insomnia.   Also you will have better tolerance and stronger will power.
Therefore, the longer you can hold up your legs in that posture, the better and long living you will be.

What will the future be like?  No one knows the answer to that question.  All we know is that the effects that will appear in the future are all contained in the causes that are made in the present.  The important thing, therefore, is that we stand up and take action to achieve great objectives without allowing ourselves to be distracted or discouraged by immediate difficulties.

If you remain sincere in your interactions with others, you will one day find yourself surrounded by good friends.  And among those people, your friendships will be as strong and unshakable as towering trees.  Don't be impatient.  Work first on developing yourself, and you can rest assured that an infinite number of wonderful encounters await you in the future.

It seems to me that on the path to attain Buddhahood it may invariably be when one has done something like lay down one's life that one becomes a Buddha.  I think that perhaps it is encountering such difficulties as have already been explained in the sutra—being cursed, vilified, attacked with swords and staves, shards and rubble, and banished again and again—that is reading the Lotus Sutra with one's life.   My faith springs up all the more, and I am confident about my next existence.

HOW MANY 'F's?

Count them again.

WRONG, THERE ARE 6 -- no joke..

READ IT AGAIN !

Really, go Back and Try to find the 6 'F's before you scroll down.

The reasoning behind this is further down.

The brain cannot process "OF".

Benefits of eating Okra

Benefit of eating Okra
(Lady's Finger)

*A guy has been suffering from constipation for the past 20 years and
recently from acid reflux. He didn't realize that the treatmentcould be so simple -- OKRA! (or Lady's Finger). He started eating okra within the last 2 months and since then have never taken medication again. All he did was consume 6 pieces of OKRA everyday.

He's now regular and his blood sugar has dropped from 135 to 98,  with his cholesterol and acid reflux also under control. Here are some facts on okra (from the research of Ms. Sylvia Zook, PH.D nutrition), University of
Illinois.  *

*"Okra is a powerhouse of valuable nutrients, nearly half of which is
soluble fiber in the form of gums and pectins. Soluble fiber helps to lower serum cholesterolreducing the risk of heart disease

The other half is
insoluble fiber which helps to keep the intestinal tract healthy, decreasing the risk of some forms of cancer, especially colo-rectal cancer. *

*Nearly 10% of the recommended levels of vitamin B6 and folic acid is also present in a half cup of cooked okra. Okra is a rich source of many nutrients, including fiber, vitamin B6 and folic acid.

He got the following numbers from the University of Illinois Extension Okra Page Please check there for more details.

Ms Sylvia W. Zook, Ph.D. (nutritionist) has very kindly provided the following thought-provoking comments on the many benefits of this versatile vegetable.

They are well worth reading

1. The superior fiber found in okra helps to
stabilize blood sugar as it curbs the rate at which sugar is absorbed from the intestinal tract.

2. Okra's mucilage not only
binds cholesterol but bile acid carrying toxins dumped into it by the filtering liver. But it doesn't stop there...

3. Many alternative health practitioners believe all diseases begin in the colon. The okra fiber, absorbing water and
ensuring bulk in stools, helpsprevent constipation . Fiber in general is helpful for this but okra is one of the best, along with ground flax seed and psyllium. Unlike harsh wheat bran, which can irritate or injure the intestinal tract, okra's mucilage soothes , and okra facilitates elimination more comfortably by its slippery characteristic many people abhor.

In other words, this incredibly valuable vegetable not only binds excess cholesterol and toxins (in bile acids) which cause numerous health problems, if not evacuated, but also assures their easy passage from the body. The veggie is completely non-toxic, non-habit forming (except for the many who greatly enjoy eating it), has no adverse side effects, is full of nutrients, and is economically within reach of most.

4. Further contributing to the health of the intestinal tract, okra fiber(as

well as flax and psyllium) has no equal among fibers for feeding the good bacteria (probiotics).

5. To retain most of okra's nutrients and self-digesting enzymes, it should be cooked as little as possible, e.g. with low heat or lightly steamed.
 Some eat it raw.

Some important benefits
of consuming okra:

Stabilises blood sugar level.
Lowers serum cholesterol level.
Prevents constipation.
Keeps intestinal tract healthy.
Feeds good bacteria residing in us all.
